Spring Fashion Trends: Part 2 – Three Major Aesthetics
Here's what I'm loving and side-eyeing this Spring.
Alright! Let’s keep the fun going from Part One of this Spring Fashion Trends series! If you missed it, check out Part One to see the major color palettes we’ll be loving this Spring. This season, three major aesthetics are making waves—preppy, boho, and western. Let’s dive into how to style each one as the temperatures start to rise!
Preppy Aesthetic
The preppy aesthetic isn't going anywhere. Ralph Lauren is thriving, and that cute little teddy bear is popping up on sweaters worldwide again. Expect to see lots of polo shirts, Oxford shirts (both fitted and oversized), rugby shirts, and layered outfits.
The “Canadian Tuxedo” (aka denim on denim) is back. Pairing it with a camel-colored accent—like a belt, bag, or shoes—can elevate the look. A denim or chambray button-down is a great staple for this trend.
Button-down shirts are essential. Whether oversized or fitted, they’re a must-have for spring layering.
Cardigans remain a staple. If you invested in those cropped “lady cardigans” last winter, keep them. The key to styling them now? Tuck them in for a polished look.
Trouser pants (and shorts) are still in. Which is great, because nobody enjoys jean shorts sticking to their thighs on a hot July day.
Layering is key. Whether it’s a polo with a sweater draped over your shoulders or an Oxford shirt under a cardigan, layering remains a big part of this preppy moment.
Stripes are trending. Think nautical vibes—fisherman sweaters, Breton stripes, and classic red, navy, or black stripes woven into your outfits.
Trench coats live on. Whether it’s a full-length trench or the trendy cropped version (because, of course, we’re cropping everything), they’re a must-have. If you’re not into trenches, the barn jacket is another great preppy alternative.
Suede is making a statement. Suede jackets, blazers, and accessories add a luxe touch to spring outfits.
Denim styles are stabilizing (finally). My fear of low-rise jeans making a full comeback has subsided—so far. This season, straight-leg jeans are the go-to. If you jumped on the barrel-leg trend, you can keep rocking them into the spring and summer.

Boho-Chic Aesthetic
Lots of ruffles. Sadly, I don’t mean potato chips.
Sheer everything—shirts, skirts, pants, you name it.
Woven textures in tanks, shorts, and skirts.
Tops with tie details.

Western Aesthetic
Suede jackets and blazers—a crossover trend from the preppy world.
Studded flats and belts for a subtle Western touch.
Fringe! Whether on a suede jacket or a skirt, fringe blends Western and boho vibes effortlessly.

Trend Transparency: Things I’m Hesitant About
Not every trend is for me, and that’s okay. Here is the first trend I’m side-eyeing for Spring 2025:
Capris. I didn’t love them in high school, and I don’t love them now. As someone with large calves, they never felt flattering on me.
