The shower effect is so real! I always think of my best ideas there, and then promptly forgot them as soon as I step out of the shower. I really appreciate your callout about kindness not being transactional - it's a great reminder that what you put out into the world comes back to you in different ways. A resounding yes to voting in every single election. Love all of your outfits, the red and burgundy look is my favorite, too.
I mean, it totally makes sense when you think about it! I always get so bummed when I do X for a person and they don’t do X back for me! But trying to remind myself to keep doing X and the goodness will come back in another form! This is sounding like an algebra equation, but you get the point.
Local elections matter!!!!!! Appreciate you, Tina!!! Xo
Listen, I'm a big fan but throwing items in the "wrong bin" is a bridge too far! I'm Team Kids on this one. No, but seriously, what a jam-packed post and I love your train of thought writing style. It's so real and relatable and comical. You have a gift :)
I'm DYING.... They were so shook to the core. Little Type-A's with a very unhinged Type-B Mom... what kind of therapy will they need in a few years!? Thank you so much for the kind words!!! The ULTIMATE compliment.
Not me running right back into my closet to throw a red sweater over my shoulders!
And oh how I get the cooking and baking thing! One of our daughters asked if I needed help with dinner last night and I practically screamed “NO!” at her before shooing her away.
LOL! Listen, I could reference your posts quite often with the "So I was reading on Substack...." My husband was so shook by my aggressive response. Poor guy was just trying to help -- little did he know I needed to complete at least ONE TASK from start to finish!
Uhm, I think since age 13, I've just been hoping that somebody somewhere would refer to me as their go-to makeup geek. That dream now fulfilled...what can I conquer next?!?! That palate looks excellent. I LOVE the idea of not noticing who isn't showing up, but instead focusing on the love that already is. This was such a delightful read. Xx
Thanks a lot for the "joy delayed" article--weeping into my coffee. No seriously, I took notes, it's definitely one of my mantras to notice and experience joy.
Love an "old money" sweater over the shoulder throw. How I handle living in Austin and heat then doing into aggressive air conditioning.
Nina... I literally can’t stop thinking about that article. CONSTANTLY. If only Thomas Blake knew how much he’s reframed my way of thinking after that one. I’m in the Northeast, but I have to assume that in Texas you’re either baking like a potato or chillin’ in an ice cube tray.
Socrates in the shower for life! THANK YOU for taking the time to read, I appreciate you!
All of these outfits were so good! Idk how your school is, but mine leans extremely into the school sweatshirt zone so I am always excited to see when someone else is putting a little effort in.
Also I have still not gotten over you having a single Pinterest board, so I imagine the Notes app is a similar vibe 🤣
Thank you, Tricia! We are super mixed in dress code - and in true Traci form it's all about vibes and stress level that dictate what I pull together. I kid you not, I just checked it's status -- it is called "Aesthetic" and currently has..............809 pins LOL!!! The "singular" note is wild and scary for most, lol. Especially my Mom.
Thank you for being here!! I appreciate you so much.
“But lucky for you, it means you’re getting a yard sale of fun and excitement.” This made me laugh so much Traci, love it! 😂 It sure was fun! Especially already owning the 3 items that you love.
LOL! My college coach used to call us a "yard sale" when we would show up to a practice or meeting disheveled, dropping our equipment, etc. I'm so glad you enjoyed!! And owning the 3 things! Are we spirit-bffs?!
Okkkkk I'm finally catching up on posts after publishing mine and wow clearly we have been on the same wavelength! I'm going to add an edited reference because this post has so much good! Love it 😍
Traci, this was jam-packed with so much goodness it's hard to believe writer's block was anywhere in the neighborhood. I savored it - especially your outfits, which have so many good details to them. The socks, the shoulder sweaters, the sunnies. I hope you've had a wonderful weekend!
Traci, you had me lol-ing at the random Notes because SAME. (Please tell us if you ever find out what happened on 8/6!) Also, love these outfits - the gold earrings to make your Canadian tuxedo fancy, and especially the vintage Polo button-up with the dark denim and red sweater + socks!! So good! Your note about regrets and inclusivity really touched me, too - we have the same conversations with our kids. x
Ahh you're such a beautiful inside and out. Your posts are such a breath of fresh air. The kindness piece particularly resonated with me as I recently had that conversation with a friend.
Also, your 4-shirted husband is WINNING the game 🫶🏻
I loved all your outfits this week, especially the first one that was your favorite. You make the button down + jeans combo look so good - the silhouettes are just perfect!
Also really loving your Notes to Self. The kindness one is such a good one!
You are the cutest! I love everything you share, Traci - it's all so feel good!
The "shower effect" is so real! What I think is the coolest thing is the variation in brain waves - alpha and theta - that make it happen. Sometimes if I'm feeling overstimulated or overloaded by all the noise (figurative and/or literal), I will literally take a shower or go for a drive because I KNOW it's going to clear my mind and open up space for ideas!
Omg Kait. Are you our resident expert? I knew there was a scientific explanation but what in the alpha heck! That’s soo cool!! Thank you so much for reading, I appreciate you & all your brain waves!!!
The best part is it’s for me 🤣 Ibuprofen at 7:00 a.m., Tylenol at 9:00 a.m.… times were tough during that sick period, lol! The Canadian tux was bold and international, baby! Thank you so much for the kind words — I appreciate you beyond words!!

Same Traci (on both counts)

S/O to Aunt Lisa indeed! That apple crisp recipe looks perfect. Making for the holidays!! Xx
She is truly an icon! She did worry about the butter content though, lol!
