1. I got the time wrong for my 12 YO’s dr appointment last Monday, I cried in the car with him, then took him back to school.

2. Perseverate is a very good word.

3. I do, in fact, have 20 something baskets in my house, and I can say with all certainty, it doesn’t help.

Traci Landy's avatar

Omg, Fanny! You. Get. It. By saying we had big feelings = we cried together. I totally get it.

Lol, perseverate is a great word.

Alright— cross the baskets off the damn list!!

Fanny Adams's avatar

I mean the baskets make the mess look cuter but they don’t relieve any stress IMO.

Traci Landy's avatar

My baskets also accumulate a LOT of clutter.

Ok first I feel like I’m also always starting newsletters saying “what a week!” lol so you are not alone! These “modern” lives we lead are exhausting, and I’m saying that pre kids. Truly in awe of all the moms in my life! Love these tips 🤎

& love that this look resonated with you!!! My vest obsession is taking over, so glad I’m not alone. Thank you for the love & shout out 🥰

Traci Landy's avatar

Fangirl moment, Alex! Yes, I totally start each newsletter with the same overwhelm, lol! I am optimistic things are on the up!

I always admire your style & Loveeee using it as inspo! That look was truly to die for!

Thank you for putting out such quality content that we ALL love!

Hot husband reveal!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Traci Landy's avatar

I’m dead! He is definitely somewhere lurking in the comments totally feeling himself right now. First the dog gets an inflated ego, now the four-shirted husband. 🤣🤣

Right!? 😍

Traci Landy's avatar

Dyingggg 🤣🤣

I second the burgundy gap sweater!

Danielle's avatar

I have this sweater and love it but I’m going to get another in a different color and size up for bagginess

Traci Landy's avatar

I also had to size up to get the look I wanted! You are so right!!

From one type B mom to another--I would die without a calendar. And I don't even look at it that often??Just knowing it's there calms my nervous system down. And now I am off to buy those blue shorts instead of answering my emails!

Traci Landy's avatar

My Type-B Sister!! What calendar works for you!? I’m so nosey and curious. Digital? Paper? Right now I have both - send help. 🤣

My email # is slowly coming down! Trying to unsubscribe to everything. 🤣 if you and them, hope you enjoy! Xo appreciate you reading!

Tina Boetto's avatar

Totally recommend a calendar, it's life changing from a "where do I need to be?" standpoint. Although earlier this year I very confidently walked into my hair salon so proud of myself for being a few minutes early to be told I was an entire day early. You're not alone. Sending huge hugs, I think you're amazing ❤️ And I love collective effervescence, it's such an important concept post-pandemic in getting back to building community and connection irl.

Traci Landy's avatar

Omg, thank you. It always makes me feel better knowing we ALL have these moments!

Are you a paper calendar gal, or digital/app? I’m so curious about everyone’s preferences! Lol.

I was always wondering why I feel so AMAZING every time I leave a a concert. Who knew there was a fancy word to explain it!?

Tina Boetto's avatar

Digital calendar for me :) All of my friends have come to expect a calendar invite for every single outing we do - no friend date or appointment is too small for a meeting planner 😂

Xue's avatar

Oh babe I wanted to reach out across the screen to give you a big hug. As a working mom, that mental and emotional load is REAL. There is just so much shit to remember to do to follow up on 🤯

Amen on self compassion and building good systems to take the load off us. And normalizing dropping balls sometimes. If it helped you, I nearly sent my daughter to school at the start of the new year on a day that school hadn’t reopened. She saved herself by insisting there was no school that day and checking her school calendar. So this is teaching kids executive skills and independence!! 😂

On a lighter note, at least your outfits were stylish and fun ❤️

Traci Landy's avatar

SO. MUCH. STUFF!

Xue! Now you see why I loved your post today (and all your posts, always!). Awww, your daughter!! I totally get it—I’m trying to reframe their insights as helpful, not as a judgment on my parenting skills (or lack thereof)!

The outfits are pretty much the only thing keeping me together these days! 🤣

Xue's avatar

Yes! I feel you. I think any working mom can relate. It’s not easy. Gotta channel Dory and just keep swimming 🐠

Traci Landy's avatar

Yup!!! So true.

Sadly few of us are CEOs with legions of people to delegate to 😂

Traci Landy's avatar

And yes, I wish I had a private chef/team I could delegate all food related needs to.

I thought in the end they were gonna say that the staff just made Tollhouse cookies & no one knew! 🤣

Xue's avatar

That would have been a much better ending!!!

Traci Landy's avatar

I LOVED this. It’s so true. No balance, just juggling!!!!

Jaymee Geelan's avatar

The fact that you work, clean, mother, etc and still pull off this awesome newsletter each week is nothing short of miraculous!

I’d make approximate 1,000 Apple muffins and stick some in the freezer ♥️

Traci Landy's avatar

Jaymeeeee! Thank you! So kind. Honestly, such an unsung hero comment-- freezing things is so important for me. It eliminates the other shame I feel when I cook/bake and never finish what I produce. LOVE IT! Also, I made the Pinch of Yum brussels today -- FANTASTIC!

Jaymee Geelan's avatar

She has so many good ones!

Usha's avatar

Aww babe. I hope this week is easier than the last. We all have those moments and I hope in time you won't even remember them ever happening. Anyway I don't know what I'd do without my calendar - which spouse shares and is jointly responsible for. We can't do everything individually but together, we will get by. Ps the less things you have, the easier it is to clean up!

Traci Landy's avatar

Alright!! So!! The less things— YES. I’ve been engaging in a great purge, and you are so very right. Talk to me about the calendar you use? Digital? We put things in our phone calendars & I still seem to mess it all up, sigh. Thank you for the kind words, Usha! You are the best.

Usha's avatar

I have a Google calendar and husband has his Microsoft work one. No need to share as long as you send each other invites to anything and everything - dress up days, social stuff, workouts etc. If I make plans, I add it to the calendar. If I need a reminder to do something it gets added only on my end

Traci Landy's avatar

Taking notes. TY, USHA!!

My go-to for this time of year when we have apples all over our kitchen is apple nachos. Every single day for after school snack. Sliced Apples/drizzle peanut butter / chocolate chips on top. I’ve also done instant pot applesauce but that requires peeling apples and that feels like too much with all the fall activities right now 🤪

Did you get your normal size in the Sezane vest? I’ve had my eye on it for so long but I do not want to mess with any sort of return!

Traci Landy's avatar

Omg nachos sound incredible! I didn’t even think about that! I’m so into it! So for the vest, I usually wear a small, I went up to a L. I knew I wanted it to fit oversized/boxy. I probably could’ve done a S or M— but I’m down with my L!!

Alex DiCapo Patel's avatar

Re: Sezane sweater, I got my true size and it fits great! But will let Traci weigh in too 🥰

Carly Richter's avatar

Thank you!!

Once again, dear friend, you had me LOLing through this whole read. Your truest self is shining on this one today, Traci!

"It’s AOL dial-up with cobwebs." Pasting this at my desk at work when the going gets tough...

Traci Landy's avatar

LOL, I’m so glad you enjoyed. Thank you for the kind words!! I couldn’t think of anything else to write about then the BIG feelings of now!

I’ve finally accepted that I cannot remember everything let alone anything. 🤣🫶🏻

I LOVED the outfit you put together with the Jcrew grey sweatshirt. I'm dying to recreate it. And thank you for the tips you shared in the beginning. The one about putting things away immediately is probably the best one ever. So simple but such a gamechanger. Xx

Traci Landy's avatar

❤️❤️❤️thank you for taking the time to read!!

wantd's avatar

Omg, Traci I am so type b and I too am trying SO HARD to put things aways immediately. It is insane what can accumulate in a matter of hours?????? And I'm not even a Mom 😂😂😂😂 And writing things down seems so obvious but I always think I will remember and I legit NEVER do. Again, not a Mom but here for this!!!! And love the fits! Xx Lauren

Traci Landy's avatar

I feel you!!! Type-B-ing ain’t easy!! Sooo grateful you took the time to read!! Appreciate you.

Gosh, Traci, this is so impressively good. I can’t believe how much you cover every issue! The visuals are beyond inspiring, and I just love your style so much. I’m dying over Abigail. That’s Ms. Abigail to you!

Traci Landy's avatar

LOL!!!! 😂 thank you so much! It’s true, she is quite special. Possibly most expensive item in my wardrobe. Appreciate you!!

I'm sorry to hear your week was tough, I hope it gets a bit easier !! Also, I am team apple crisp all the way, especially when topped with vanilla ice cream. Lastly, sign me up for outfit 2 and 3.

Traci Landy's avatar

Alright— crisp it is!!!! Ty, Ofelia!!! Xo

Made 3 apple crisps with all our apples 👨‍🍳 💋
