This post came at the most perfect time because I am thinking of signing up for acting classes and this was the nudge I needed! Substack has been an incredible creative outlet BUT it can lead to over consumption on the internet (trying to find a balance).
I love you wrap fringe skirt and western boots, I DIE! It is so so good! Your posts are such a morning treat, lysm!
First improv, now acting - you are my absolute creative IDOL! It has been the BEST creative outlet, but you're right, it adds a totally different dynamic consumption-wise. I've found myself having a hard time opening the app recently. (Tricia wrote about this, too!)
Like you said, it's all about balance! Thank YOU for reminding me about my love for western wear, and THANK YOU for being the best support system for me on this platform!
Thank you for the recap of that article, I needed a little reminder of the importance of creativity. I sometimes gaslight myself into thinking my SS is self indulgent and silly, and I should give it up. But it’s my main outlet for creativity and that’s important! I needed this reframe ❤️
SS (and getting dressed) is also my primary outlet for creativity and I always feel sort of embarrassed about it! But whatever!!! Think about how many drawings there are of fruit bowls in the world! What's one more newsletter?! Be free!!
SAMESIES. I often think, what will my kids think when they read this one day? But you know what? I hope they think, “WOW, my mom was low-key cool, putting her trauma and challenges all over the internet while trying to look semi-stylish!”
Also: Dobby is FREE!!! I hope you’re a fan of Harry Potter or that absolutely does not land, lol.
Emily, in my eyes your posts are the pinnacle of creativity and eye candy!! I admire them so much because I can only begin to imagine the amount of work and hyperfixation it takes to make something look THAT good. Please do not EVER, EVER give it up (this is me being selfish, lol). You constantly inspire me!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Jumping onto the end of this convo - because YES, these thoughts resonate so much, AND we can’t be having either of you two leaving SS. Don’t stop the creativity!! Thanks for doing the serious reading for us Traci 🤓
YES to creativity!!! YES to romanticizing our lives whenever we get the chance! I truly believe that joy can be found in the little, simplest things.
Also yes to that fringe skirt and fox brooch — sooo cute!
P.S. I’m obsessed with Alex Warren and basically forced my kids to be fans too, and now even my 2-year-old can sing “Carry You Home” 😆 (or kind of… since he doesn’t speak English lol).
WAIT— mine are super fans too!!!! We got the vinyl!!! Tell me you’re obsessed with this new song!!?? I was over here patiently waiting for someone else to share the same love for him!!!
You made my day. We can get them to sing it in all languages/toddler-gibberish, lol!
So I had tickets for MSG in NY— and made the last minute decision not to go through with it. I always buy tickets in advanced and then can never find childcare, lol.
We may need to write Alex a letter. SIR— WE HAVE A SUBSTACK!
Oh nooo, that hurts even more. Now we can both cry thinking about what we’ll be missing while watching his Brit Awards performance (have you seen it??? The orchestra!!!)
As someone who chose Whimsy as one of my words this year I so relate to your thoughts about creativity. Maybe that’s why I sought out to do so many tactical hobbies lol.
Also watched wayward and was blown away by the lack of tidy ending!
I love that for you, Nina!! Your outfits are a creative work of art -- I always feel inspired after seeing your lewks! WAYWARD....WTFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still angry.
Traci I love whimsy so much! It’s the key to happiness! Fun ideas to add whimsy to our everyday. Also, loved the fringe skirt with your boot babe! I have been sick as f… so I am finally catching up with the stack. Have a great rest of the weekend! Love ya
As always, one of my favorite reads to start my day!! I loved every part about romanticizing your life - I really believe it's all about the little things! xx
Lovely, as always! That black fringe skirt looks stunning on you, and that brooch on blazer!! I *live* for the whimsical, frivolous things life has to offer, and when it's not offering as much, I try to make my own. I always want to delete all my apps, but my goal this year is to be consistent with what I create in the social media sphere, even if it doesn't show up as perfectly scheduled. So I'm trying to treat it like work, and log off promptly when I'm done with my tasks, and so far I'm doing decently 🤞🏽
I'm so pleased to be the 100th like on your post, these are always the bright spot in my week ✨ I love your brooch and the story behind it so much Traci, it's incredibly special. I think a fringe skirt in 28 degree weather is badass. And I love your Etsy (Scare) scarf styling.
Yay! You are my LUCKY 100! Your support means the world to me. I'm so grateful to now have an arsenal brooch styling thanks to, you!!!!!!!!! Etsy-Scare for life 😂😂😂
Not going to lie, I saw “croc mules” and let out a judgey gasp bc I thought you meant Crocs… before scrolling to the picture and realizing I have the same mules in plain black.
Now I know there's a name for my many side quests - whimsy! Yay for putting a name to it. I enjoyed Wayward too and really liked taking notes on Toni Collette's fashion. She made hippie look so chic!

IT WAS SO GOOD AND WELL DESERVED AFTER GRAMMY-GATE!

We watched a few things with really annoying endings lately!
Like, I don’t need more anxiety in my life, people!

Loved this reminder of how important being creative is. Hope to get back to creating more and consuming less this year 🤞
Me & you both, sis! I always appreciate how your posts inspire me to get creative with my style!!
Thank you so much ❤️
Inspired to wear something impractical & love this royal blue sock pop!!
YAY! I was recently inspired by Danielle & got a cute lace collar/cape to wear over my leather jacket!! Let’s get Wild!!
Let’s!!

Ugh, I LOVE THIS. I am in a delete and burn it all down phase. This is a good reminder that balance CAN in fact exist! All fringe everything!!
Just casually slipping in a dream of domesticating a fox 😂😂😂😂 can’t wait for that Substack series! 😍🤩 that fringe skirt is dreamy xoxo
Here I am, just waiting for someone to find and comment on that Easter egg. You are the REAL MVP, Katie! 😄

Hahahaha, someone else said the exact same thing! Thank gosh we’re aligned, lol!
Now I know there's a name for my many side quests - whimsy! Yay for putting a name to it. I enjoyed Wayward too and really liked taking notes on Toni Collette's fashion. She made hippie look so chic!
