I Overthink Every Outfit, So You Don’t Have To | 03
Meticulously Styled, Barely Holding It Together
Welcome to my usual style diary! I’m excited to share what I wore last week with you all—lots of fun, affordable, and effortless fashion finds. I love watching my style evolve throughout the week; I think that’s my favorite thing about fashion. Some days, I feel like a super cool girl in a blazer and jeans. Other days, I’m ready to start line dancing up and down the hallways. And then there are days when I feel like a cute, preppy lady spinning in a field of tulips.
Monday:
I went with a usual outfit formula here. It was also St. Patrick’s day so I tried my best to incorporate some level of fashionable green into my wardrobe. It was hard to multitask my need to wear green and whatever it is you're supposed to do with a leprechaun trap for your kids. I found myself aggressively googling at 9:00 PM, "What am I supposed to do with this trap?" I just sort of kicked it (LOL, no joke) and wrote a note saying, “Sorry, you can’t catch me!” Then I placed old Christmas Hershey Kisses in it and called it a day. Is that right? I’m not sure. If you know me, you know I claim to be no better than a C+ parent (and blogger/influencer) at all times.
I’m really loving these Zara blazers. They’re super affordable and have such nice structure. The shoulder pads make me look so legit. I took a risk and got these Madewell jeans on their super sale for $50. I think it was definitely money well spent. It was a weird rainy day so some black boots to tie the whole thing together. Loved it!

Tuesday: This outfit wins MVP. I LOVED IT SO MUCH. And so did my amazing enabling coworkers. The white skirt was so fun. And………….it…..has….POCKETS! Couldn’t help myself. The navy sweater is an awesome H&M find. I tossed on my Adidas Gazelle’s and I was ready to take on the world. The “A line skirt” is all the rage this season. In true fashion hording style - I have an old one from like 6 years ago in the infamous tubs. The one I’m wearing is from GAP, but It’s sold out. There are a lot out right now— Target has a good one, too!

Wednesday: This was the day. The day to ROCK the suede shirt jacket for the whole world to see. I prepared the night before by laying out my clothes for the next day. Except, I laid out like 3 different versions of the outfit. Then, I allow myself to make a "game-time decision" on which I like best. The way I wore it today was NOT what I planned. And in all honesty, I was SO thrilled with the choice. I really love the shirt fully buttoned. I kept looking back at my inspiration collage of how to style this shirt, and everyone has it open. I must be an anomaly. The red flats make me look like Dorothy meets Garth Brooks, and honestly, I’m not mad. The shirt was also weirdly cool and breezy. I was worried I’d get super hot, overheat, and never see tomorrow. However, luckily for you all, I live to tell the tale. I have always told those closest to me that I work best under pressure. Packing for a trip? The night before. Kids need to make a diorama? The night before. Gifts for a kid’s birthday party? I print that Amazon gift card minutes before departure. I thrive in pressure situations. Like when my daughter puked all over my white shirt while we were flying home from Disney World. I whipped that button-down off, wiped up the mess, called the flight attendant over, and onward we went. I learned that the guy sitting in front of me does not thrive in pressure situations and was very distraught.

Thursday: Loved this western-ish vibe on a Wednesday. Whenever I wear this shirt, my husband will at some point say, “denimdenimdenim” to me (Super Mario reference). I love this shirt because, unlike most chambray (denim) shirts, this one is super soft and flexible. The earrings just don’t make sense. How are they so big, yet insanely light? I need my science friends to explain what magical material is used for these (please don’t just say plastic). The brown belt pulled the look together with the matching brown suede shoes. 10/10 day.

Friday: Friday, I had to attend a few meetings for my kiddos. Rocked my favorite Perfect Vintage Jeans, JCrew Oxford, black loafers, and the MVP of the day was… the silk scarf! I was going to tie it super cute like I show in my Instagram videos, but similar to Wednesday’s game-time decision, I decided I just liked the way it hung as an open scarf. I felt super legit at the meetings. And when I whipped out my Remarkable tablet to take notes, everyone in the room knew I meant business—except me, who couldn’t figure out where my files were or how to change the pen size to medium. Surviving not thriving.

Sunday: Saturday, I loafed. I wore sweatpants and an old college lacrosse tee shirt. Sunday, I brought my daughter to a birthday party, so I wanted to look halfway decent. Repeat after me: I am allowed to REPEAT outfit items, IT IS OK. I rocked my navy H&M sweater again. I paired it with my same Perfect Vintage Jeans from Friday, tossed on some black loafers, a brown wool coat, and called it a day.
