Crying in the club (the counseling office) while I eat my breakfast. Thank you for saying all of this, it’s felt so heavy to be in education lately and this is the reminder I needed this week.

Also! Have you heard of Lasagna Love? I’ve used it with families I work with and you can donate (or request) a lasagna as needed: https://lasagnalove.org

I feel like I overuse this statement with you, but I know it's true without even meeting IRL-- you 100% GET IT. It's been really heavy.... we got this <3

OKAY, I clearly should've titled this post "Lasagna Love." That is an amazing resource that I have never heard of -- THANK YOU for sharing, friend! xx

Is it possible as a millennial to see the word "club" and not mentally scream out "KLUUUURB" ? Or is it just me?

Traci Landy's avatar

We are wired to say, "klurb." I think it's evolution or something.

Anna Eleri Hart's avatar

Whenever I hear the word I do two things

1: say kluuuuurb

2: picture 50 cent in the beginning of the video when he’s hanging upside down rapping

Traci Landy's avatar

God, I love you. Never change.

We all fam 🫶😂

Substack fam in the kluuurb. <3

The world is better because you’re in it, Traci!

Sarah 😭 Thank you. Right back at you! You know how much I love your writing. Thank you for taking the time to read! xx

Your students are lucky to have you! My mom is in education and an empath, it’s a gift I think you are given to make it for the long haul🤍

Side note: I would have thrived if I had a teacher as fashionable as you in high school!

Traci Landy's avatar

Does your Mom have autoimmune problems like I do as a result or does she have healthier coping mechanisms, ;) -- THANK YOU for the kind words. I am trying to see it as a gift and learn to harness/control it (hence my 3 min meditations, lol).

You are TOO KIND... We definitely have a lot of giggles and fun when my outfits line up with my content (western look lined up with westward lessons) ;)

Evonne Sturm's avatar

I could not agree more with Meggie. Every week more stylish than the next, and you educate our youth?!? That's one powerful woman right there. I can only imagine the fun I would have had learning in your classroom in high school.

Traci Landy's avatar

Thank you Evonne!! You are the best. Does Rambling In Style perhaps turn into "Educating In Style?" I appreciate you!! xx

Traci we don’t deserve you!!! Thank you for being you and doing what you do. We need more of you in the world 🫶

Traci Landy's avatar

Oh my goodness, stop that! There are far more folks doing way more than I. But thank you. 😊 I appreciate you and your voice more than I can put into words. Xx

Is it weird that one of my thoughts while reading this was “I wonder what Traci’s Myers-Briggs personality type is?“ Probably. I’m going to put my guess out there for either ESFJ or ISFJ.

There is such an invisible tax on being an educator right now. Not just the actual teaching, but the pre-editing of yourself in real time. Inform not impose is such a clean, humane framing, but it still requires constant emotional calibration. It’s exhausting to care and be careful and be clear.

Maybe I just need some lasagna.

Like me!!

Also, fangirling…. 👀 TY so much for reading, Irene!! Xx

WOOOOAH she curve balled

Traci Landy's avatar

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Traci Landy's avatar

LOL! I took it a million years ago in grad school and I actually do not even remember what my combo was. Why does ESFJ feel familiar? Thank you for reading -- I know you understand a lot of this from an education pov as well.

And YES.... "pre-editing" is a REAL thing and a very exhausting one at that. It's hard to simply inform when you are BURSTING at the seams with passion and have been titled by many as a, "justice warrior."

Can we get lasagna for two?!

What I wouldn’t give for you to have been my history and gov teacher. I guess I’ll settle for you to be my teacher in life 💜

I often talk with clients about the people in their lives who counteracted the hard, the bad, the harmful and 9 times out of 10, those people are educators.

Also, possibly a strange thing to get fixated on but that gap ribbed gray shirt is really calling to me.

Traci Landy's avatar

THAT STAT MADE MY DAY. I am truly blessed and have taught the greatest students in the universe. They have taught me more than they'll ever know!

I don't think I've met a ribbed tee I didn't love. ;) Thanks for reading, Kaitlyn!!!

Thank you so much for all you do as an educator. My daughter will lose her APUSH teacher in March to maternity leave. So happy for her teacher, obviously. But a hiring freeze means…I’m not sure what for the rest of the year. Not just an iffy AP exam, but a critical knowledge gap, perhaps.

It’s tough out there and admire you so much.

PS I love your new pants. 🤎

Traci Landy's avatar

I can't even begin to imagine the feelings of uncertainty that brings... especially junior year in that specific course. You're honestly right... that knowledge that comes out of that course is truly "life long" and helps shape your understanding and empathy toward many groups.

Your comment means so much to me, THANK YOU. I need to come back to this one on my bad days.

&... THANK YOU, I cannot wait to style them again, can't come out the gate TOO hot or the kids will call me out on it ;)

I think taking time for yourself is so important - I love to put together a little sos basket to send to friends; face mask, book, candle etc. Something I would love to receive in my hour of need!

Traci Landy's avatar

An SOS basket is the BEST idea. Let's send each other ones just for fun. Receiving that would literally turn my day/mood/everything around! Thanks for taking the time to read -- xx

Traci, you are such a gem of a human being! Good teachers like you make such a difference, and your kids are so lucky to have you! I love the emotional lasagna concept and your five ways to show others you care - small, but meaningful actions. Also love look #4 to your daughter's basketball game (the red sock is such a good pop of colour!)

Traci Landy's avatar

Thank you, Maria!! This was such a kind and genuine comment-- means so much to me! Sometimes when we can't control what's going on in the world -- we can at least control how we treat others! <3

What a responsibility and held so beautifully, thank you for sharing and for being such a light for your students. At 36 I still remember the teachers that played this role in my life, such a wonderful legacy to leave

Traci Landy's avatar

Thank you, Connie!! Definitely not a responsibility I take lightly. Thank you so very much for taking the time to read my work — it means so much to me!
