Last thing I tried and LOVED was taking one of my four kids (almost 20 yo) away for a beach weekend in the midst of the east coast blizzard. We swam, played bocce, did Pilates, giggled, gawked at plastic surgery (sorry ppl, he wants to go into DERM), ordered salads by the pool. I think those were perfect snow days.
