One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever gotten was “be a goldfish.” Meaning, forget everything once it happens! This was expressly in relation to work - as in, don’t dwell. But I’ve applied it to life in general. It has freed up so much brain space for me!!
That is SO GOOD! You are so wise, Lindsay Sword! I cannot wait to use that! I am a big-time dweller, it's v unhealthy. I know Dory wasn't a goldfish, but I respected her ability to keep it movin' as well. Thank you so much for taking the time to read, I appreciate you!! xx
P.S. I love how you handled your daughter’s shopping spree and the strategies you gave her. I’m adopting immediately for myself and my kiddos. The scaffolding is so key!
Back in the Pleistocene, say 1970, the book fair displayed stacks of books on tables in our classrooms, and my mom purchased every single title. Because books. Granted, there were fewer then, but still. It was one of the few times I remember from my childhood when money wasn’t an issue. My brother and I both grew up to be passionate consumers of words.
OMG, how funny! First of all, YASSS to your mama! I rarely hold back when it comes to books, either. We really try to push our kids to embrace and actually use our incredible local library. The mushroom sharpener/eraser and last year’s fuzzy journal were definitely questionable purchases. I LOVE this personal anecdote! <3
“Like the millennial mom I am, we talked it out, skipped the shame cycle, validated the overwhelm, and reminded her we’ll try again at the holiday market.” … our kids are so fortunate hahah! Skipping the shame cycle is something I have worked SO hard personally, knowing I need to get over that so I don’t pass it to my kids. Bravo to us!
You get it, Emily!!!! They truly are. My mom loves the Boomer vs. Millennial Mom videos on Instagram, haha! And exactly right. I beat myself up so much, the least I can do is try to help my kids avoid falling into the same patterns. Thank you for taking the time to read, you are the best!
I love your all-black outfit with so much texture, and also the stripe/burgundy/leopard pairing! LOL re: your daughter returning from the book fair in debt! Who doesn’t empathize (esp on SS). I WANT ALL THE THINGS! 100% behind treating her and ourselves with grace
She may be a mini me… But definitely better! Haha, he’s a good egg! I’m grateful his schedule allows him to step up for me in these ways. I’m so grateful we connected on here and Instagram! Xx
Skipping the shame cycle, the collar necklace, and the eye cream were all stand outs this week! Plus the mocktail. And the early holiday decorating (my tree has been up for two weeks lol). Basically, it was all my favorite part! You’re a rockstar, Traci!
Loved this post to bits! Also thrilled to know I’m in good company as I too am married to a four-shirted man! I like to think we balance each other out 😆
i can't tell you how much i enjoy reading your weekly posts! i am always giggling through your intros and head nodding to everything you run through! i also started a daily brain dump recently and it helps SO much and that blue looks amazing on you!! xx lauren
I love that you do it every morning!! I struggle to use the word “dump” in this context so I’m glad you did it for me. 😂 love & appreciate you gals!!! TY for the kind words. Xx
Hahaha! Imagine the damage we would do at an adult version!? Thank you, friend! It’s not easy- but trying to parent the unique little one that I have! 🫶🏻

also I'm so used to see you with sunnies that the first two pictures had me thinking it was someone else !! also really love your cobalt blue outfit. Lastly, thank you for the apple cider recipe because I've been cravingggg some !!
Hahaha! I had to prove I have eyeballs, ya know. 🤣 Cobalt blue is a new and loved color of mine lately!! The mocktail was so good!!!!! We actually burned the cinnamon and put it under the glass to create that smoky taste! 10/10!!!!!!
First of all, you are such a good mom leading with compassion!! I am okay at budgeting but even at my big age all bets would be off at a scholastic book fair!! And second of all, how did you know I’ve been dying to make a fall cocktail!! Such a good post as always ❤️
I love all your outfits and your lovely storytelling along the way but the way I gasped at the call out. So sweet and I’m so glad my fit inspired a sequined skirt purchase. I cannot wait to see how you style her!
Oh pleaseeee! I literally couldn’t stop thinking about the look! You are such amazing style, Nina!! More of the world needs to see it!! Thank you again for inspiring me!! Xx

TEAR 🥹... it's not easy. I have to prevent myself from FREAKING THE F OUT. But, I know she beats herself up enough. Thank you for this!

Libraries are magical places. And I gotta say, as a little girl a fuzzy journal would have been EVERYTHING to me!

I absolutely adore your daughter 😍🥹. Why do I feel like she's a mini you in the making? 😍.
Husband who handles returns? Wutt?!
I'm so happy to hear you've been saying YES to more experiences. You in NYC and that table full of amazing women?! Heck yes! Love it.
Obsessed with your thrifted sweater and the corresponding pants.
Beautifully written Traci, as always.

🥹🥹🥹stop that! Thank you for the kind words. There is no temptation like a scholastic book fair temptation!! I spiked my husbands with bourbon! Lol
That Doen sweater is so beautiful on you! An epic secondhand score. Loved this, Traci!
Thank you, Jaymee! It pales in comparison to your ebay jacket find!!!!!!! Thank you for always taking the time to read - I appreciate you.
Also a big, big fan of baby blue and chocolate rn <3
